The Bucks Women’s Soccer team ended the season with a final record of 2-2. The team faced many challenges early on in the season. Assistant Coach Tee Whitmore expresses, “Our final record of 2 wins and 2 losses doesn’t fully capture the essence of what we achieved. Due to many girls’ programs lacking the necessary personnel to compete, we ended up playing as a club team with a limited number of games.” This caused feelings of disappointment for coaches and players.
This issue did not stop the women’s team, it only brought them closer and was a valuable experience for players to get to know one another and practice on perfecting the game of soccer. Whitmore states, “We focused on bonding and working diligently every day to improve both individually and as a unit.”
When Whitmore was asked about key players during this season she states, “Two standout players this season deserve special mention: Emily Gilmore and Jennaviere Logue. Both were in their second season with the team and played pivotal roles. Emily, who had played as an outfield player last year, returned significantly improved and, although we utilized her mainly as a goalkeeper this season, she excelled in the role. Her performance surpassed all expectations. Jenna, known for her physicality and sense of urgency on the field, had worked tirelessly on her technical skills during the offseason. Her growth was evident as she returned even sharper and more refined than last season.”
Other mentions Whitmore included in her statement are: “Grace Neidert, Martina Fedor, and Hailey Black infused the team with vision and technical ability, as did second-year players Kiara Isabella and Zoey Ellis. Emlyn Robles added pace and an eagerness to learn, while Ava Fife and Morgan Scott brought a tremendous amount of heart and alacrity to our squad.”
These women did not only have a drive to improve as a team, they all brought their own qualities and characteristics that were able to shine through this sport.
The women strived to make improvements in practice and during games. Whitmore shared an improvement she noticed stating, “Communication on the field. As the season progressed, our ability to work together in real-time became one of our greatest strengths, leading to some beautifully executed goals.”
Whitmore added “One of my personal highlights from the season was our trip to Central Penn, which I had the privilege of coaching solo. With only one sub available, the odds were stacked against us, but the team played with immense determination and heart. While we lost 0-2 (largely due to fatigue), I could not have asked for more from the girls. Their effort was outstanding, and although we were unfortunate in the result, I am proud of their performance. The progress we made was tangible, especially when comparing this game to last season’s 0-4 loss at Central Penn, where we had four substitutes on the bench. It was clear that we had taken significant strides forward.”
The team’s determination and goal to perform their best each game does not go unnoticed.
Although this season for the women’s team presented some challenges, it was also filled with growth, resilience, and determination. Their hard work will lead to future achievements as the team works in the off season to prepare for the upcoming fall season.
Whitmore also would like to welcome returning players back while also stating, “I encourage girls/women to come and join our team & I wish our players that moved on all the best in the rest of their collegiate careers!”
Good luck to our Women’s Soccer team. Go Centurions!
