“Paranormal Activity” is this
year’s “BlairWitch Project.” This
realistic horror flick was in such
high demand among viewers it
was shown in cinemas all over the
country, starting off by only being
shown in select theaters. Its terrifying
plot has brought many people
to the theaters.
Based on true events, this
haunted house flick shows what
can happen when you allow such
a ghostly presence to be welcome
in your home; the result may not
be what you were expecting but
just like Katie and Micah, you
must be prepared for battle.
Katie Featherston, a young
woman who has been haunted by
an unexplained presence for many
years, decides to move into a quiet
suburban area with boyfriend
Micah Sloat.
Katie wants to leave this entity
alone, but boyfriend Micah becomes
infatuated with the idea of
confronting whatever is following
Kate. His new video camera gives
him the idea to record everything
that happens in the middle of the
night in hopes of catching something
on tape; what Micah finds is
not what he was expecting.
This supernatural thriller kept
you at the edge of your seat; from
the horribly loud pounding noises
on the walls in the middle of the
night to the flaming Ouija board in the
empty house. The couple’s idea of
confronting their guest was probably
not the best; instead they tormented it.
Not even the psychic they brought in would stay to help. The special effects throughout the movie are subtle yet you can not help to be drawn farther into this house of
horrors. Each night captured on tape
presents new and more serious phenomena that will eventually make it very evident to the couple that they shouldn’t be there.
A thick silence fills the theater
as the suspense grew. Wide eyed
audience members tightly gripped their chairs as Katie and Micah’s
situation became more intense.
The occasional gasp and scream
echoed throughout the theater.
This real-life couple made a
video in hopes of seeing it on the
big screen and they were successful.
“Paranormal Activity” was in
high demand all over the country;
what started as a small project,
turned into a box office hit.
Paramount Pictures is now considering
the idea of a sequel.
However it is not set in stone. The
ending does leave things open for
more and it would not be difficult
to fill the theaters for another horror-
suspense thriller like this.
