It seems to be that every time Feb. 1 rolls around, that haunting question pops into your head: What on earth are you going to get your special someone for Valentine’s Day?
Many people wonder why it always seems to be so difficult to decide on a present for their loved one. After all, it should be easy, shouldn’t it?
Unfortunately, many people find this is not always the case
Whether in a serious committed relationship or not, Valentine’s Day is known as a traditional day to celebrate one another and be thankful. What women want the most on Valentine’s Day is to feel loved and appreciated.
If money is not an obstacle, an idea many women fancy is taking a trip together; perhaps staying at a Bed and Breakfast in another town for the night. You could also go up to the mountains together, rent a cabin, and go skiing or snowboarding. At night, you could sit by the fire together or go out into the Jacuzzi surrounded by snow.
Another nice way to spend Valentine’s Day is to pamper yourselves together. You could book a joint-spa visit, maybe indulging in a couple’s massage. Women love to be pampered by and with their loved ones.
For many people, money is tight with the current state of the economy, and Valentine’s Day will have to be celebrated on a budget. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Valentine’s Day without giving away your college tuition.
Valentine’s Day is not just about the gifts and materials to women. It is about expressing love and gratitude for having one another in your lives.
So what do women want for Valentine’s Day? The Centurion took a survey of 100 women on campus to figure out what they wanted.
Some of the gifts included on the survey were the originals like jewelry, flowers, chocolates, sexy lingerie, and a romantic dinner.
The gift that women said that they wanted the most was the cliché of jewelry, with 21 percent of women saying they wanted it. The problem with guys getting jewelry as a gift is that it is expensive.
Tom Mitchell, 22, Health and Physical Education major from Yardley explains what he gets for his girlfriend for Valentine’s Day.
“It’s nice but a great way for guys to go broke. I mostly go for flowers and a couple other small things. If she’s into sports, get her tickets for a game,” Mitchell says. “My girlfriend and I have spent Valentine’s Day down at the Wells Fargo Center to watch the Flyers on numerous occasions.”
The gift that came in second place with 16 percent was flowers. This is another cliché but apparently a gift that never gets old. In third place with 15 percent was a personal letter. This is a gift that is extremely personal, easy and cheap.
So what do women not want on this day of love?
Men shouldn’t go out and get their women sexy lingerie for Valentine’s Day. Only three percent of women said that this would be a good gift.
So why not get this for your girlfriend or wife? This makes women feel like you are trying to tell them that they would look better in what you got them then what they get themselves. It is better to let her go out and surprise you.
The other thing that men shouldn’t get their significant other for Valentine’s Day is perfume. Only four percent of women voted for this option. This goes along the same lines as the lingerie. Women don’t want you to tell them how they should smell. That’s a women’s choice and can seriously put you in the doghouse.
So men, here are a few ideas on what to get your love for Valentine’s Day, but it’s up to you to get the perfect gift for her.
